Northgate Tunnel, Chester

Project Key Features 

• 7 Shafts - 6m dia, 9-12m deep

• 900m of 1200mm dia concrete pipe

• 6 MTBM drives, max length 190m

• Using AVN1200 and HKS300 STP 

MM Tunnelling provided sub contractor & project management, technical support and JCoP compliance to Vinci Construction UK over seeing the sub-contractor VJ Donegan.

The project is a storm water run off tunnel from a new commercial development to the River Dee, some 900m  away.

Given the historic nature of Chester coordination with the archaeologist during the first 2.4m was important and Roman remains were found in most of the shafts.
