Central Interceptor -Auckland

The Central Interceptor project was a 14.5km long bored tunnel with two pipe jacked branches feeding into the main tunnel.

Microtunnelling Key Features

• 10 shafts from 4.5 to 10m dia, ranging from 12m to 85m deep

• 4.5m 85m deep shafts to be drilled and GRP lined

• Secant piled / shotcrete for the remainder of the shafts 

• 2.5km of 2400mm MTBM tunnel, maximum drive length 950m

• 1.5km of  2100mm MTBM tunnel.

• Both tunnels to be done with an HK EPB microtunneling machine
